Disadvantaged students shall go to top universities - Education News from OST

Top performing state school pupils are less likely to apply to top universities than public schools.

The Sutton trust has found from research that poorer students are less likely to apply to top uniservity, lack of confidenience is to blame.

They suggests schools need to improve their guidance and push students to apply to the top universities. They also suggest uniservities should change their admission policies to encourage poorer students to apply. It has been reported that Lord Mandelson intends to give less well off students a two grade head start.
